Every year, around 57 lakh Bangladeshi are forced into poverty due to health expenditures. We believe that access to quality and affordable healthcare is a basic human right. Our mission is to work towards achieving universal health coverage in Bangladesh so that all people, no matter where they are, have access to quality healthcare services, without facing financial hardship or falling into poverty.
Over 60% of Bangladesh's population still live in rural areas where access to quality healthcare is either limited or non-existent. Even though the government of Bangladesh and the NGO sector has made big strides in improving rural healthcare services, we still have a long way to go. Every year, many rural people travel to cities and urban centres in the hopes of availing better healthcare, incurring large out-of-pocket expenses. Nearly 62% of the healthcare expenditure is on purchasing drugs and medical consultations.
We believe that by leveraging on technology we can make a big contribution towards achieving universal health coverage in Bangladesh. Through telemedicine, we can connect people to experienced doctors no matter where they are situated, thereby eliminating the need for them to travel to urban centres and reducing their health expenditure. Gradually, we aim to take medicines and testing facilities to people's doorsteps, eliminating the need for them to travel completely. We dream about a future when everyone, everywhere would be able to afford quality healthcare services.
